Khotan rugs originally came out of the oasis town of Khotan in what is now Xinjiang, China, where weavers on the Silk Road developed a style that pulls from both Chinese and Persian traditions. This version is hand knotted in Pakistan in that same lineage. The composition runs an all-over geometric lattice across a dark navy field, with interlocking octagons in cream forming a tight, rhythmic grid right to the edges. The wide border picks up the same vocabulary in a more open arrangement, with stepped octagons and small fretwork strips lining the outer edge. Wool pile on a cotton foundation gives the rug a low, even hand. The graphic, almost architectural drawing makes it a strong choice for modern interiors that still want something with real cultural depth on the floor.
