Twin vase motifs sit at the top and bottom of the rose field, each one holding a tulip and floral spray that climbs toward the centre. Between them, a small ivory rosette medallion holds the middle, with paired floral clusters on either side. This Lilian was hand knotted in the 1960s in the Hamadan-region village of the same name. Vase compositions like this one have a long history in Persian weaving, going back to 17th-century Safavid court rugs, though in village hands the motifs are stylized into something more direct and warmer. The deep navy border carries its own curling vine chain. Wool pile on a wool foundation. Six decades have given the dyes a soft, gentle register without dulling them.
