Woven in 1960s Iran by the Bakhtiari Tribe, this semi-antique features the garden compartment design that the Bakhtiari are known for, where the field is split into a grid of squares, each one holding a different tribal motif. You see cypress trees, weeping willows, flowering plants, and small geometric stars laid out across the grid in red, ivory, blue, green, and gold. The bold red squares carry the visual rhythm and the ivory squares give the eye a place to rest. Handcrafted in soft, durable wool with the kind of natural patina that only comes from sixty years of wear, this is a real cultural piece. Lives well in a study, family room, or anywhere with character.
This rug is low maintenance and easy to clean. Vacuum regularly with no beater bar. If spills occur, spot clean with mild detergent and water.
